Warrior Highlight

Meet Diego!

At just 4 years old, Diego’s world was turned upside down when he was diagnosed with B-cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) during what was meant to be a carefree summer vacation. Since then, he has bravely faced a journey filled with hospital visits, intense treatments, and the many challenges that come with a cancer diagnosis—yet his bright spirit and infectious joy never waver.

Diego is a bundle of energy and love. He adores building Legos, playing with his little brother, and finding creative ways to make others smile. One of the most touching examples of his big heart is his “Diego Bags”—thoughtfully prepared care packages he hands out to people experiencing homelessness. Even while fighting his own battle, Diego finds ways to care for others.

His resilience, kindness, and constant positivity are nothing short of extraordinary. Diego reminds us all what it means to be brave, compassionate, and full of hope. He is a true inspiration every single day.

Program Highlights

ACFC Hit The Road to Tucson!

On Saturday, July 19, twelve brave children from Arizona Cancer Foundation for Children were treated to an unforgettable day at Chase Field, thanks to Arizona Diamondbacks pitcher Merrill Kelly and the D-backs organization.

As part of a special Jr. Diamondbacks Signing Session, each child was honored with a custom Topps baseball card celebrating their strength, resilience, and love for the game. In a heartwarming twist, the kids took to the field before the game to meet Merrill and other Diamondbacks players—and sign their cards for them.

The full VIP experience didn’t stop there. Each warrior received a generous bag of Diamondbacks goodies, tickets to the game, and of course, all the ballpark classics—hot dogs, popcorn, and sweet treats. They also had the chance to watch batting practice up close and were honored on the field before the game. Together, we helped create a day full of joy, connection, and memories these kids will cherish for a lifetime.

This incredible experience not only lifted spirits but also reminded us of the power of community, sports, and showing up for kids when they need it most. We are deeply grateful to Merrill and Bre Kelly, the Arizona Diamondbacks, and Topps for making magic happen.

Donor Highlights

Every gesture, big or small, has an impact.

We are incredibly grateful to Tori Graveman for hosting a heartwarming Christmas in July Toy Drive during the July 19th D-backs game. Tori created a beautifully festive space, and the thoughtful group of friends she gathered made a meaningful impact on the families we serve. Her generosity and the care she put into every detail helped make the event a true success.

It was also an honor to meet so many of the players’ wives, significant others, and their children. Their kindness, dedication, and behind-the-scenes support of the foundation are truly appreciated and speak volumes about the heart of this community.

We are so fortunate to work alongside community members like Tori. We appreciate her partnership, compassion, and the joy this toy drive helped bring to so many families.

Volunteer Spotlight

Meet the National Charity League Sonoran Centennial Chapter!

The National Charity League – Sonoran Centennial Chapter has partnered with ACFC since summer 2019. As a mother-daughter organization focused on community service, their dedication to supporting children facing cancer has been truly impactful.

“Our chapter is inspired by the work of ACFC,” says Kara Cook, Philanthropy Liaison for NCL – Sonoran Centennial. “We’re grateful to help further their mission and support families during such a difficult time.”

From assisting at events to spending time with the kids, NCL brings joy and creativity to every volunteer opportunity. Most recently, they hosted a food drive for our pantry and wrote dozens of heartfelt cards to encourage families during visits.

“Our favorite part is building genuine connections with the kids and families,” Kara adds. “Even small acts—like playing a game or doing a craft—can brighten a child’s day. Their courage reminds us what truly matters.”

We’re incredibly thankful for the ongoing support of NCL – Sonoran Centennial and proud to have them as part of the ACFC family!
